What's Up Wednesday - July Edition

Today is one of my favorite link ups & I'm sadly proud of myself that I remembered to get this post ready. Blogging has been on the back burner, but you'll see why as you read through this post :)

1 - What We're Eating This Week...

Nothing fancy. Our goal for grocery shopping was to have as little left in our fridge when we left Saturday as possible. So we've grilled and ate pasta salad with veggies most nights. We did have quesadillas last night though & those are always a hit with my girls!

2 - What I'm Reminiscing About...

A couple of things...
- I cannot believe Olivia is a year old already! Having her birthday party had me feeling all sorts of nostalgic for when she was just a teeny little thing.

- Packing for Disney has me thinking about all of the trips I took with my parents & grandparents as a kid. One of my favorite trips though was with my Aunt Babs five years ago as an adult.

3 - What I'm Loving...

I've been on a shopping binge, but I have to confess, my heart belongs to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. To see my favorites, check out Friday's post

4 - What We've Been Up To...

So many things!

We had an "All The Princesses Party" to celebrate Ella turning 4 & Livy turning 1!

I spent a week coaching at cheer camp. We had theme days & the girls loved it!

I went to Baltimore to get my tumbling certification. While I was there, we got to spend time at the Inner Harbor & listen to the top coaches in cheerleading speak. So much fun!

We've been doing a lot of playing in the backyard! On Sunday, we basically spent all day out there & it was glorious. Our weekends are normally jam-packed, so having some downtime was special.

We visited the lake with our friends & Livy loved it! She was a big fan of the boat ride we went on!

5 - What I'm Dreading...

Well, I hate saying anything negative about our vacation because I'm just so excited about it. But if I'm being honest, I'm dreading flying with both of my kids. Ella has only flown twice - which was to Orlando & back when she was 18 months old. On that flight home, she cried so hard that she puked all over me during the descent. So... I plan to feed Livy a bottle during take off & landing and I've been practicing gum chewing with Ella, even though she has no idea why. I'm also packing a change of clothes for all involved parties... just in case.

6 - What I'm Working On...

Packing. Packing. More packing. I'm terrified I'll miss something. To top it all off, I'm doing it secretly, so everything is sorted into piles & randomly stashed throughout the house. I'm going to put it the majority of it together after the kids go to bed tomorrow then finalize everything Friday night when they're asleep again. Thankfully, Ella knows she isn't allowed in our basement, so I've been able to set up a command center down there for the time being.

7 - What I'm Excited About...

DISNEY!! I cannot wait to spend a week with my favorite people at my favorite place.

8 - What I'm Reading...

I've been reading the Gannett Island Series by Marie Fore & loving it. I'm not going to lie - they're definitely romance novels - but I'm hooked on all of the characters & they're little island life!

9 - What I'm Listening To...

I recently activated my Apple Music trial & am obsessed with it! You can basically pull up any song in the world & they'll have it. They have a ton of pre-made playlists too that I love to pull up when I'm running or walking the dog. So many throwbacks!

10 - What I'm Wearing...

My wardrobe is pretty sporadic during the summer. Some days it's a sundress & sandals. Other days it's running shorts & a tank with flip flops. It just depends on our task. I've literally taken zero outfit pics this summer #badblogger But I do plan to share what I wear to Disney all of next week!

11 - What I'm Doing This Weekend...

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but we're headed to Walt Disney World to surprise Ella for her birthday! I think that's my favorite part of the whole trip. She's going to be so excited!

12 - What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...

Cheer season starts on August 15th & for me, that signals that it's time to get back into our school year groove. I've got a ton of changes coming this year, but I'm feeling more & more ready to tackle them after a few weeks off. Once we're home from vacation, I plan to spend a lot of time in my new classroom so I'm ready to give my new kiddos an amazing start to the year!

Friday Favorites

Oh wow... I have no idea how it's been almost 2 weeks since I've blogged. It certainly wasn't intentional, but to be honest, having two kids at home with me all day is hard. Having two kids with me at cheer camp last week was even harder. Hosting a double birthday party after being away for 3 days was hard too. #excuses In short, life has been hectic. But it's been the best kind of hectic, filled with my loved ones & my passions - so no complaints here! I will be posting about the girls' party & all that we've been up to next week, but today I wanted to pop in & share my favorites from the #NSale - because I've definitely found time to shop that!

Since I'm a cardholder (I have the debit one that comes right out of our normal bank account & highly recommend it!) - I have already made 3 orders from the sale. The first arrived on Tuesday, and the others are set to arrive tomorrow!

So first of all, I have to agree with everyone that the shoes in this sale are ah-mazing! I have been lusting over a new pair of Nikes for myself, but bought a pair for Ella instead. I think they'll be perfect for our trip to Disney & then they can be her back to school shoes too!

I'm also LOVING these scalloped Uggs. Ella lives in Uggs all winter long - #hellonewyork - and this is a price that I can actually afford them at.
My favorite headbands for Livy are included in the sale as well! They are adorable, soft, stretchy, and don't leave marks on her head! I picked up three new ones for her!

not Livy... this is the pic from the Nordstrom website

Another thing I've been crazy over in the sale is the activewear. I am a huge fan of Zella apparel, so I ordered a new pair of Live In Leggings & this cute top! I plan to wear the top at Disney since it's so lightweight & currently the feels like temp in Orlando is 104. #godhelpme

And I may or may not have this item sitting in my cart. I'm waiting to see how much I end up spending in Disney before I pull the trigger. I figure if I can still afford it & it's still available - it'll be fate!

Michael Kors Large Daniela Crossbody

Ok friends, Ella is gone for the day with her Grammy Nancy, so Olivia & I are going to start the first stages of packing! Wish us luck & have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

This Saturday we attended my favorite festival of the year - The Corn Hill Arts Festival. I normally go each year with my mom & sister, but this year my mom couldn't make it up from Virginia, so I went with my sister, my kids, and our husbands instead.

Our first stop of the day was the Duke's Donuts truck! These apple cider frycakes are my favorite and they were still warm when we go to eat them! Ella was a little upset that they didn't have frosting or sprinkles on them, but she came around.

Every year we see the Fairy House Tour, but normally skip it. This year Ella was all about it though!

I was really impressed with the fairy houses too. They were all incredibly intricate & you could tell that people had spent A LOT of time on them. People got to vote for their favorite & this is the one that I picked!

And this is the one that Ella voted for!

Eric got in on the wine tasting, while I ate up some meatballs from The Meatball Truck!

Ella did a little birthday shopping & her Aunt Britt bought her a new Belle necklace!

And then the crazy dog lady struck again... buying this sign for her backyard.

After the festival, we took a stroll along the river & enjoyed the beautiful day. Then headed to one of my favorite restaurants - The Gate House - for a late lunch/early dinner.

On Sunday, we  woke up to cooler temps & a little rain, so we headed out to the grocery store to get our errands taken care of. The big surprise was that our normal truck carts had been upgraded to tractor carts! The girls were really excited about it. We were hoping they'd be easier to drive, but nope, just as big of a pain as normal.

We came home took naps & then the weather was SO MUCH NICER! We played in our water table (hence why Olivia is topless), took two walks, and did some chalking.

We finished off the night with fajitas on the grill & some US Gymnastics! Now this week, we're headed to spend a week at cheer camp. We'll be in the gym all day, getting ready for the season. Then the coaches are headed to Baltimore for the weekend

On the Move with Huggies Little Movers & a Giveaway for You!

The big question around our house these days is when will Olivia start walking? She's a pro crawler, an excellent creeper, and even pretty good at standing on her wobbly little legs. But actually walking - we're waiting for the big moment. And in the meantime, I'm preparing for it. We've removed the coffee table from the living room so she can't knock her head on it, we have the baby gates up on both sets of stairs, and we made the switch to Huggies Little Movers, because that's exactly what she is these days!

Huggies Little Movers have a stretchy SnugFit Waistband to help Livy's diaper stay in place & prevent anything from getting out. (A feature I value since Livy mainly plays on our carpets!)

The unique contoured shape provides a comfortable fit and stays in place as she plays her little heart out. They also feature Leak Lock protection, a DryTouch liner, and double grip strips - all part of the new Huggies Brand Moving Baby System

Another thing I love about Huggies Little Movers is that they're available at my local Sam's Club! And if you purchase between now & July 17th, you'll save $3.00 instantly at check out. If you aren't already a Sam's Club member, you can sign up here! I find my membership to be SO handy. We buy everything from diapers & wipes to watermelon & gas. They have it all & at great prices!

Save $3 on your next Huggies Little Mover purchase

One last thing... Huggies & Sam's Club have teamed up to offer you a $500 gift card to Sam's Club! Use it for whatever you like & all you need to do to enter is submit a photo of your Little Mover by clicking here

On the Lake for the Fourth of July

Without Livy at home & with Ella exhausted from the fireworks the night before, we got to sleep in on the 4th of July! Once we were up, I ran to Wegmans to get all of the ingredients for my Patriotic Trifle & some bagels. Once that was all prepped & we were repacked, we headed back to the lake for another day of fun!

Ella wore her new navy blue swimsuit for the 4th & got right down to business swimming! While my sister & I hung out on the deck for a bit. The sun was HOT on Monday, so we wore our hats most of the day. FYI - mine is BP from Nordstrom & I love it!

Last year, my sister tried paddle boarding & I was so jealous, but at 9 months pregnant it seemed like a bad idea. This year though, I got right out there & gave it a shot!

A few things about my paddle boarding experience
  • I loved it.
  • It's way harder than I thought.
  • I didn't get wet, but the waves from boats & jet skis had me dropping to my knees a few times to avoid falling in.
  • I was SORE on Tuesday & Wednesday. I definitely got more of a workout than I realized.

After a sunny afternoon on the water, we got changed & helped grill up some dinner. But first we took a patriotic picture. We were missing sweet Livy, but know that she was happier in the AC with Grammy Nancy!

As the sun went down, we busted out the sparklers! We had so much fun with them, but even more with the poppers. I hadn't played with those in years! If you follow me on Snapchat though, you know how fun they were...

At the end of the night, we sat on the dock & watched the fireworks over the water. Perfect little 4th of July with my family :)

Weekend Recap - Almost the 4th of July

So, I had intended to do one big long weekend post today, but we just packed way too much fun in for me to do it at once. So today, I'm going to talk about Saturday & Sunday. Then tomorrow, I'll be back with a recap of our Fourth of July celebration.

On Saturday morning, we still "hungover" from our vacation. There were suitcases everywhere - some that needed to be unpacked & others that needed to be repacked. The girls needed baths & I needed to get a Target trip in before we went to Hornell that afternoon for a few parties. It was chaos, but somehow we made it into the car by noon & were on time for a graduation party for two of Eric's cousins.

We were extra excited about the party because it was the first time we'd get to see my niece since she's been out of the hospital!

The kids played & played on the swing set. Then they ate some food & rode scooters. And repeat. They were just so happy to be playing together again :)

We stayed as long as we could, then headed off to meet Grammy Nancy at a fireworks party! Ella had her first taste of sparklers & loved them! We all stayed up way too late, then slept over at Grammy Nancy's for the night.

The next morning, we were dragging but we had to get a move on because we had a hot date at the lake with Aunt Britt & Uncle Matt! Matt's parents rented a cottage for the week & invited us to come join them. It was an offer we just couldn't pass up!

Matt got this float for his birthday & it's awesome! It has a sun deck, two coolers, drink holders, and a spot to dip your feet in the center. We loved it! His is from Costco & is sold out, but I'm sure you can find them other places too!

We managed to get Ella out of the sun for a few minutes & nap, but when she woke up, she was ready for amores!

Then Ella got a big surprise when we went out for a boat ride with their neighbors...

Ella got to drive the boat!

It has some sort of nav system that he can control it with his phone, so she wasn't actually driving it. But she thought she was & loved it!

While we were out on the water, we saw a lot of fireworks, but decided to head home to Rochester for the night since we were coming back again for the Fourth. We ended up seeing fireworks the whole way home & Ella loved it! It was such a great weekend and the best part - it wasn't even over yet!
