4 Ways to Hold Yourself Accountable While Pregnant

Track What You Eat

I've tracked what I ate throughout my second pregnancy with MyFitnessPal. I would say that I do it religiously, but not obsessively. If I go over a bit one day, it's not the end of the world. If anything, it makes me pause before I put something in my mouth. Sometimes just knowing how many calories a food has before you stuff your face with it is a huge help. I also think this is going to help me lose the weight once I have the baby, as calorie tracking is already such a part of my daily routine.
Document Your Transformation

With my first daughter, I took next to zero pictures - and I regret it. This time around, I've taken at least one photo of myself every week so that I can see how my body is slowly changing. It's helpful to put things in perspective & I know I'll enjoy looking back at them when this journey ends.
Count Your Steps

I got a FitBit Flex for Christmas & have worn it every day since. It's really eye opening to see how active you REALLY are. I thought I was a pretty active person before, but it turns out there were some days I was actually pretty lazy. Since I haven't been running throughout my pregnancy, my goal is to hit 10,000 steps & 5 miles each day. Some days that's a struggle, others it's no problem at all. What's important though, is it keeps me active!

Share Your Goals with Your Doctor

My doctor has been one of my biggest cheerleaders throughout my pregnancy. I set very firm, yet realistic goals for myself and she has been extremely supportive. My goals were simple - I wanted to keep my weight gain between 25 and 30 pounds, keep my blood pressure down, and remain as active/fit as possible throughout my entire pregnancy. She knows these things are important to me, so at every appointment we discuss them. Just knowing we're going to have the conversation gives me an extra boost of accountability!
Find a Pregnant Friend

In some cases, this is easier said than done. Depending on timing, you may not have any friends or co-workers who are also pregnant. I currently have two people in my life who are also pregnant & even though our goals are different, we all support each other. But not all of my support comes from face to face conversations - some of my greatest inspiration has come from other moms - to - be sharing their experiences on their blogs & Instagram accounts. Don't be afraid to reach out {in real life or online} because most people are thrilled to have a support system!
