Whew... so many exclamation points. So much excitement. It's finally spring here in Rochester!
We kicked off our weekend by pulling the grill out of the garage. I've been dying to get to grilling & tried to convince Eric to grill in 30 degree weather two weekends ago. I even tried to play the pregnancy card & say that I was craving Chivetas Chicken, but no dice. He refused. So, when he offered to grill our pizzas on Friday night, I was just a little excited!
Once dinner was over, we headed to my sister's to celebrate Barkley's third birthday! She made this cake for her pooch to eat, and made 'smores cupcakes for the humans. Both Barkley & Ella approved...
Saturday morning, Eric woke up at 7 a.m. & was dead set on getting the yard raked & picked up. I was completely on board with the concept, except it was only 35 degrees at this point in the day. He assured me he'd be fine & out the door he went. I just rolled with it... until he forced me outside with him to hold the leaf bags! OMG - I swear I almost froze! It's not even that it was that cold by the time I joined him, it was the 30 MPH gusts of wind that kept coming through. Thankfully, it didn't take long & our lawn looks much better.
I took a long, hot shower to warm up & then Ella & I headed off to a birthday party for her boyfriend (and my best friend's son) - Keith! They literally live a quarter of a mile from us, so we bundled up & walked over for the party. Ella loves to go to Keith's house, mainly because of this...
She didn't even come downstairs for cake because she was too busy bouncing!
I did convince her to come downstairs when it was time to get this out though...
My friend bought it on overstock.com for less than $150 & it's one of Ella's favorite summer activities. Clearly, it was still really windy, so we were bundled up, but the kids had a blast!
After the party, Ella took an awesome nap, Eric went grocery shopping, and I relaxed. It was nice to have a few minutes of peace & quiet to myself.
Sunday morning, we woke up, had breakfast, then got down to spring cleaning. This wasn't our typical vacuum, empty the dishwasher, dust cleaning. This was serious - wash windows, clean closets, purge drawers, deep clean hardwoods - style cleaning. It took FOREVER. But it's worth it now that it's done.
Eric's dad & step-mom picked up Ella to go to the zoo. I decided to use this time to run out & do a little shopping. I had to pick up my nephew's birthday present for his party next weekend, and had been waiting for SuperCash to start at Old Navy. I got him the CUTEST outfit that I'll be sharing later this week! Then, I headed to Marshal's to pick up some candles, and while I was there, I found a bath mat - which we desperately needed. I literally threw ours out like it was bio-hazardous waste when I got home. Last stop was Target, where I took the time to take an outfit pic & document that I was wearing my new favorite skort!
|skort - Athleta // sneakers - New Balance for Anthro // purse - Michael Kors // top - GapFit|
Ella was back from the zoo just a few minutes after I got home from my errands. Perfect timing, because I was starving & the next item on our agenda was lunch! We went to one of our favorite restaurants - MacGregor's - where I enjoyed a steak salad & lots of Master's coverage.
Since we didn't eat lunch until 2 and it was 4 by the time we got back home, it surprised no one that Ella fell asleep in the car. Thankfully, she stayed asleep while Eric carried her up to bed & continued to nap until we woke her up at 5:30.
While she napped, I took Charlie out for a three mile walk & we were both in heaven. It was sunny & 65. Absolute perfection. Then, I came home & couldn't bring myself to stay inside, so I went back out to the yard & did some of this...
Once Ella was awake, we eagerly awaited the arrival of our favorite dinner guests!
Aunt Britt, Uncle Matt, and Barkley came over to grill with us! We had a delicious summer supper of grilled chicken, pasta salad, and fruit salad. So good. Definitely the perfect end to our weekend...
Hope Everyone is as Happy as I Am Today!
