Bumpdate: 28 Weeks

size of the baby: eggplant

total weight gain: 18.5 lbs.

gender: Baby Girl - Miss Olivia Rose

maternity clothes: all day. every day.

movement: tons & tons - Ella felt her the other day & definitely doesn't understand but is absolutely fascinated!

missing: My waist. My summer clothes. All of my clothes. I know it's so selfish, but I'm just ready to feel like myself again.

craving: Breakfast. I ate it two nights in a row for dinner this week. It's just so yummy!

exercise: I'm getting 5 miles in every day & it feels good. The weather is perfect for evening walks & I plan to make the most of it!

symptoms: Still a lot of heartburn, but other than that I'm feeling pretty decent.

nursery: Olivia's crib skirt & curtains just arrived from Wayfair yesterday, so I'm going to put those up this weekend. All the finishing touches are starting to come together in there!

looking forward to: a lot of time with my sister this weekend :) We're hitting up the Public Market for fresh produce & having dinner at our favorite Mexican place too. I'm sure there will be plenty of other fun adventures thrown in there as well because it's going to be gorgeous here this weekend!

best moments:
  • Hitting the third trimester!
  • Picking out my Mother's Day gifts - yes, we're totally those people that buy exactly what we want. We aren't big on surprises.

What's Up Wednesday...

1 - What We're Eating This Week...

this pic is from last year, but she still loves her corn just as much!
We are doing lots & lots of grilling right now! And corn in the cob is back at our local grocery store! It's definitely one of our favorite foods of all time & watching Ella devour her own cob is a hoot and a half. But last night, we were outside playing way later than planned, so we kept it super simple & had breakfast for dinner.

2 - What I'm Reminiscing About...

With Olivia on the way, I can't help but reminisce about how sweet Miss Ella was as a baby. She was such a baby bird when she was born. I'm hopeful Olivia's entrance into the world will be a little less dramatic & we'll have a smoother transition home, but if not, I hope she turns out as perfect as her big sister did.

3 - What I'm Loving...

Maxi dresses. Sweatpants. Quest Bars. Warmer weather. My evening walks. Smoothies. Baby kicks. Sandal season. Extra daylight. Just to name a few...

4 - What We've Been Up To...

We've been spending as much time outside as possible! If you couldn't tell from my previous answers, we're all about spring around here. Ella has been playing with her sidewalk chalk, riding her 4-wheeler around the yard, and I've been consistently hitting my 5 miles with our evening walks! Now if only we could get it 10 degrees warmer so I could change into shorts the second I got home every day...

5 - What I'm Dreading...

28 weeks on one of our evening walks...

I'm really dreading getting any bigger. I tried to put on my running shorts & only have two pairs that fit right now. Both of those will be short lived too. Time to dig into my stash from last time around & find some suitable (albeit less attractive) options.

6 - What I'm Working On...

The end of the school year means lots & lots of paperwork! I have a ton of individualized student meetings to prepare for & a ton of grading to do. I'm trying to get as much done at school every day & bring as little home as possible, but there has been some inevitable spill over in the past week as we had report cards & progress notes due, plus we were pulled from our normal duties to grade state exams. Simply put - the end of the year is chaos!

7 - What I'm Excited About...

Olivia. I'm just really excited for her to join our family. I'm aware that it will be an adjustment for Ella, but I just know that she's exactly what we need.

8 - What I'm Watching...

Other than Disney Jr. & Daniel Tiger, the only thing I've watched lately is Dancing With the Stars & HGTV. I've given up on trying to catch up on Nashville because I'm just so ridiculously far behind & know better than to even try to get into anything new.

9 - What I'm Listening To...

I listen to XM Satellite Radio in my car, so I tend to have a lot of variety. But I did recently download this song because I just can't get enough...

10 - What I'm Wearing...

Today I'm wearing this dress & cardigan with my favorite Tory Burch sandals. But to see some of my other recent outfits you can click here & here

11 - What I'm Doing This Weekend...

Eric is going to visit some of his college roommates, so Ella & I have a lot of plans with my sister this weekend! We're going out for Mexican food on Friday night & hitting up our local farmer's market on Saturday morning. Then we're hitting the mall for Operation Find Grammy's Mother's Day Present. I can't wait - we just love our Aunt Britt!

12 - What I'm Looking Forward to in the Next Month...

One of my favorite festivals - The Lilac Festival - starts next Friday & runs until the 17th, so I'm looking forward to hitting that up! I'm also really excited for my mom & dad to come to town for Mother's Day next weekend. And I have a doctor's appointment next Tuesday for Olivia - I always look forward to those!

last year at the Lilac Festival!

13 - What Else Is New...

I can't believe I'm even typing this (and Eric might kill me if he reads this), but Ella is obsessed with trampolines & I'm thinking about buying her one for our backyard. I've seen some low to the ground options that might be a good choice, but it's a lot of money to spend when I know she can jump at Miss Jennie's everyday.

My Favorite Accessories

Happy Monday Everyone! I came to school feeling super refreshed after my unexpected long weekend, but then everything that I would've done on Friday was sitting & waiting for me on my desk - so the feeling was short lived. #teacherproblems

I just had to stop by & share my favorite accessories today though! I've just recently gotten into accessories. Up until about two years ago, I basically just wore a pair of stud earrings & my wedding band/engagement ring every day. Definitely not the case anymore!

Favorite Bracelets:

I wear my Alex & Ani bracelets every day. They're lightweight & I have them in both silver and gold, so I mix & match. I never wear all of them at once, usually about 5 at a time. I love that each one I have has a little story behind it - who it's from or why I purchased it. Today I'm wearing - a feather {from my cheerleaders}, an ice cream cone {from my sister}, an apple {because I'm a teacher}, a four leaf clover {from my very Irish in-laws}, and my mother's bangle {from Ella last Mother's Day}.

Favorite Necklaces:

wearing my BP Fringe Necklace
I love long necklaces. I'm just not into chokers. My absolute favorite is my BP fringe necklace, but I'm also loving my new one too! And I'm obsessed with the Kendra Scott Rayne necklace that Eric bought me for Christmas. I love that it's adds such a pop of color to every outfit I wear it with!
wearing my Kendra Scott Rayne in Neon Yellow

My Watch:

My watch is the Coach Boyfriend Watch & I got it for my birthday two years ago. I absolutely love it & how classic it is! I can (and do) wear it with just about everything.

Favorite Earrings:

I am still all about the studs! I just can't handle dangly earrings. My favorite studs are my Kate Spade studs & my look alike Kate Spade studs. I wear them practically every day. If I'm not wearing those, I'm wearing my Marc Jacob's Button Studs. I bought them from Piperlime (so sad they're closing) almost 5 years ago & still wear them a ton!

As for rings, I still keep it basic with my engagement ring & wedding band every day. Maybe someday I'll be more adventurous! Ok... time to stop procrastinating & get to work on the huge pile currently inhabiting my desk! Happy Monday!

Last Time Around...

I had a moment earlier this week that made me extremely grateful I have been documenting this pregnancy weekly on the blog. Even if no one else reads it, I'll be able to go back to it & remember the timeline of events, how I was feeling, and the major milestones as they occurred. I didn't do that with Ella - I didn't have my blog at the time & barely posted anything on FaceBook or Instagram. The updates that are there are few and far between, with practically no detail. So, I found myself scrolling through my Outlook calendar on Tuesday afternoon trying to figure out how far along I was in certain pictures so that I could compare.

Thankfully this wasn't too time consuming, as apparently, I took all of 5 photos the entire time I was pregnant with Ella. That, or I've done a phenomenally good job of destroying them all since. Either way, I can't find more than five. I think that says a lot about my self-confidence at the time. I knew I wasn't being healthy & I must not have been thrilled with how I looked. Or maybe I just wasn't as self-absorbed back then...

But anyways, I was looking for a photo of myself at 27 or 28 weeks for comparison purposes & actually found this one...

It's of Eric & I at the Diaper Party our friends threw us when I was 27 weeks along. It was also the same day of my first baby shower & I remember being really tired but wanting to be there to say thank you to everyone. {And those shorts... yeah, I still have them & tried to put them on to see if they fit. They fall off right now. }

For comparison purposes, this is Eric & I at our nephew's birthday party last weekend, when I just happened to be 27 weeks. I can't tell a huge difference in my stomach because I was wearing a loose cardigan in both pictures, but as far as my thighs & face. Well, I felt pretty good about myself. The picture validated the fact that I'm making the right choices this time around & that it's paying off.

At 31 weeks, I had my maternity photos done. My wedding photographer was looking for someone to help her out & I agreed to do it with her in the same park we had our engagement photos done. I actually love these photos because they capture just how happy I was. But when I've been looking back at them, I thought they were taken at like 34 weeks right before I had Ella. Nope - 31 weeks. And let's not even talk about the belt.... I have no idea.

And then there's this gem from 32 weeks pregnant, with my sister at my Bliss family baby shower. Oh wow... that's all I have to say is wow. The dress is awkwardly short. The belt, apparently I really liked that belt, but OMG - why did my sister let me wear that?

Ok, this is a big rambling mess. But after all my "detective work," I wanted to document just a little bit of the timeline for myself. It was a lesson learned in nutrition with a fairy tale ending...

An Unexpected Day at Home

I'm unexpectedly blogging from home this morning. Ella wasn't able to go to daycare today & Eric had meetings, making working from home a non-option for him, so mommy ended up with a three day weekend! Can't say that I can complain... except sub plans are always a beast & I'll definitely have to work on reports while Ella naps this afternoon. At least all of this can be accomplished in sweats, which is a huge bonus at 27 weeks pregnant!

I hadn't realized how run down we were until Ella slept in until 7:15 - which never happens - and I slept until 7 myself - which is rare these days. So, I think today is a gift from God, telling us we needed to slow down & get rested back up. I had originally thought we'd run out to Target this morning & get a few things done, but Ella asked me if we could "just play," and I couldn't say no to her sweet little face. Also, I discovered that it's snowing. In April. So I'll be inside avoiding that like the plague.

So if you need us today, we'll be at home, in the living room, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & "just playing" together. What more of a perfect start to the weekend could I ask for?

Bumpdate: 27 Weeks

size of the baby: Rutabaga  (1.5 to 2.5 lbs.)

total weight gain: 17.5 lbs - I was expecting another "growth spurt" after a weekend away

gender: Baby Girl - Miss Olivia Rose

maternity clothes: I finally found maternity jeans that I love from Old Navy! They're a little distressed, cropped to the perfect length for sandals & have just the right amount of stretch. I'm really hoping that they'll last the rest of my pregnancy because they're perfection. I also got a pair of distressed boyfriend shorts from Old Navy - I had Super Cash to burn! - and I loved them when I tried them on too. {I sized up in these because I hate having shorts that cling to my thighs.} I just need it to be warmer than 50 degrees again so I can test them out...

movement: Tons! Olivia is a maniac! People are starting to ask if they can feel her, which weirds me out at times, but I generally let them.

missing: The ease of bending over. Don't take it for granted people. I literally grunt every time I have to bend over to pick something up... so embarrassing! So far Eric is the only one who has said anything about it, but my co-workers are bound to notice soon enough!

craving: Salads. Big salads with a ton of meat and cheese. I know there are far worse things to crave, so I'm rolling with it.

exercise: I'm still on a roll with my steps & it feels good to move. I'm adding squats, calf raises & a few other moves into my daily routine because I think my booty is sagging. Eric says it's all in my head, and it could be, but they don't both me, so I figure it won't hurt!

symptoms: Still a lot of heartburn & I'm starting to get tired again. I remember the third trimester being the hardest for me last time around, so I'm trying to mentally prepare for it.

Ella: is playing with lots of baby dolls in preparation for Olivia's arrival!

looking forward to: pulling out all of Ella's old baby clothes & sorting through them! It's my main goal for the weekend to have it all sorted out & washed so that I can have her dresser fully stocked up!

best moments:
  • We went to my nephew Finn's Birthday Party last weekend & it was so nice to watch Ella spend time with her cousins playing. We don't see Finn very often either, so I took every cuddle I could get!
  • Spending time with my mom & doing a little shopping. It's things like that that make me feel most "normal," so I'm trying to keep them up as long as possible.

What I Wore Wednesday

You'll notice that I'm showing a lot of leg in these photos because the weather has been gorgeous (by Upstate NY standards) for the past two weeks. I've been enjoying the 60's & sunshine and showing off my {very pale} legs!

And before we get started, my favorite Michael Kors Crossbody is on sale at Nordstrom right now! It's price matched, so I don't know how long it will be on sale, but it's less than $150 right now & available in nine colors. I am so tempted to buy it in navy for cheer season!

One of my go-to work outfits. I have a bunch of these style dresses & throw them on with a cardigan, necklace, and sandals. Instant outfit.
dress - Old Navy Maternity // sweater - Gap Maternity // sandals - boutique // necklace - Loft
Work. It was a really rough morning - hence the topknot. But seriously, this is my favorite maternity shirt. I bought it from Gap Maternity when I was pregnant with Ella & wish I had it in 10 colors!

pants - Old Navy Maternity // shirt - Gap Maternity {old} // sandals - Forever 21 {old}
watch - Coach // necklace - Nordstrom
Shopping with my mom, sister, & Ella last weekend. Followed by my nephew's birthday party!
shorts - J.Crew Factory // top - GapFit // cardigan - Gap {old} // sandals - Gap {old}
bag - Michael Kors // watch - Coach // necklace - Nordstrom
Running errands all by myself! That never happens. So, I documented it with some outfit photos at Target. I absolutely love this skort & am so happy I'll be able to wear it after Olivia arrives too!
skort - Athleta // sneakers - New Balance via Anthro // top - GapFit
And this maxi. I just love it. I wore this to work last week & got a ton of compliments. I'm wearing the non-maternity version of the dress, but if you're more comfortable in maternity pieces, Loft made the same exact dress for us preggo ladies too!
dress - Loft {maternity here, non-maternity here} // necklace - Nordstrom // sandals - Tory Burch

7 Tuesday Tangents

Just stopping by with a few random bits & pieces today. Well, let's be honest, my content is quite random on a regular basis. But today is extra random...

1 - We're on the hunt for a reasonably priced blender because I want to make smoothies & milkshakes this summer. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

2 - I'm in love with these Boom Chicka Bites. I picked them up at Target over the weekend & will definitely be getting them again. They're popcorn covered in a light caramel drizzle & mixed with crushed nuts. So yummy!

3 - Ella insisted that my mom buy her this skirt at Old Navy over the weekend. I wasn't on board, but have to admit that she looked pretty cute this morning. And yes, her shoes are on the wrong feet. We're trying to build independence & some days are better than others!

4 - Praise Jesus - tonight is Ella's last soccer class of the session. I have really enjoyed having her in the class & I get a ton of steps in while we're there, but I'm just too tired after a day of teaching to chase her around right now. We're going to skip the May/June session & sign back up in the summer when I {hopefully} have more energy.

5 - Yesterday was likely the last of our nice weather for awhile. The 10 Day forecast makes me want to throw up. Highs in the 40's. Rain with a chance of snow. Just no. It's not okay. I need shorts & maxis & long walks & grilling. And Ella needs her playhouse.

6 - I'm slowly adding items to my Poshmark & Tradesy closets as I outgrow them this pregnancy. Eric & I are on the same page that Olivia will be our last child & I'm purging the vast majority of my maternity stockpile. If you're pregnant & looking for some affordable pieces in great condition - you should check it out!

7 - I'm really quite in love with BP. jewelry from Nordstrom. I now own 2 necklaces and 2 pairs of earrings from the brand & love them all! These earrings look just like my Kate Spade studs, but are only $8! And I talked about this necklace on my Friday Favorites last week - but I've been wearing it on repeat & just can't get over how reasonably priced it is! {Props to Shaeffer for introducing me to these awesome items too!}

I own these in ligh pink & ivory - but they come in other fun colors too!

A Whirlwind Weekend

Ladies, I'm exhausted this morning. I had the alarm set, then bumped it back half an hour, even then Eric had to basically shove me out of bed. Ella felt the same way. She took some serious convincing to get out of bed this morning. That's what happens when you have a whirlwind weekend though.

Friday night we headed to Saratoga to my parents' house. The four hour ride is pretty much the last thing I want to do on a Friday night, but I didn't want to waste a Saturday morning with my mom, so we decided to suck it up. We forced Eric to do the driving, and my sister & her dog, Barkley, came along with us too.

We didn't arrive until 8:45, so we all basically had a snack, chatted briefly, and headed to bed. But the next morning, we were all up & ready to go!

Eric & my dad headed to the golf course, while us ladies headed to the mall!

my outfit for Saturday - shorts are J.Crew Factory & I'm in love!

After some shopping, my mom took me to one of my favorite spots - the Halfmoon Sandwich Shop - for a panini. I just love Panini #4 - turkey, russian dressing, american cheese, and bacon on flatbread. It's so good & I'd eat it every day if I could.

After lunch, I left with Eric & Ella to go to my nephew's 1st birthday party! The weather was absolutely beautiful (although it did get a bit windy later in the afternoon) so we played, and played, and played outside. I just love seeing the three of them together...

three very messy, very busy, very happy cousins

I love the three of us together too...

And the cake was delicious too! I may have ate two pieces, but it's ok because I was wide awake when we got back to my parents that night & randomly decided to hit up the treadmill for a few miles....

I made this same face as I was trying to sneak piece #2 without anyone noticing...

Sunday morning, as per tradition, we hit up Cracker Barrel for breakfast!

She weaseled her Grandpa into buying her a Stuffy before we even ate!

Eric gave Ella a quick checkers lesson on our way out.

Then, in the blink of an eye, it was time to go home...

passed out on the ride home...

Seriously, I feel like I blinked & my weekend was over! I came home, took Charlie out for a long walk, picked up dinner (a super nutritious one at that) and did laundry - and that was it!

Five Friday Favorites

Five things I'm loving this Friday...

1 - This Maxi

So this maxi is not maternity. I borrowed it from my friend, Kristine, just so I could try it on & see if I wanted to order it in maternity or non-maternity. (Loft has the same exact dress in both.) Well, I loved it so much, I ended up wearing it to school on Monday, before she'd even had the chance to wear it herself. #whoops Thankfully, she forgave me & was even sweet enough to tell me how cute I looked in it when I waltzed into her classroom apologizing on Monday morning. Fast forward to Thursday, I've returned said dress to her & she's wearing it. She totally understands why I couldn't stop myself Monday morning. It's simply the comfiest dress ever! It's 40% off right now - so if you're looking for the world's comfiest maxi - this is it.

2 - My New Necklace

This necklace just arrived yesterday afternoon, but I'm already in love. I have a ton of tassel style necklaces, but love how simple this one is. Gold is my go-to for summer, so I know I'll get tons of use out of it too! Expect to see if often around here...

3 - This Commercial.

I swear. I laugh every time. The 60 second version is even better than the one I see on T.V. most of the time. I have it saved to my favorites on YouTube so I can watch it whenever I want.

4 - Twinning

Ella & I were twinning yesterday :) My grey dress is from Target & her grey dress is from BabyGap. (both are sold out online) She got to wear her sweet new Natives, and I was wearing my favorite metallic sandals, so we both had fancy shoes on too.

5 - This Weather

We're having amazing 60 to 70 degree weather here this week & we've been taking full advantage. Lots of family walks, playing in the yard, and trips to the playground. Here's Ella having the time of her life last night...

Linking Up for Friday Favorites!

Bumpdate: 26 Weeks

size of the baby: head of lettuce

total weight gain: 16 pounds - holding steady with weight gain, but my belly is definitely growing!

gender: Baby Girl - Miss Olivia Rose

maternity clothes: I was finally able to wear maxi dresses this week! It was the best! I'm happiest in sandals, so that has improved my mood this week too!

movement: I'm starting to be able to feel her press up against the outside of my stomach & totally forgot how much I loved that last time. Eric loves to feel her too, but I haven't really tried with Ella. I think Olivia will have to be a lot stronger for Ella to pick up on it...

missing: Running. Now that it has warmed up, I'm seeing tons of runners while I'm out walking & it makes me so jealous. I love a good run on a nice 60 degree day...

craving: A Frozen Strawberry Margarita. It just sounds so good...

exercise: See Tuesday's post - I've been on fire lately!

symptoms: Heartburn - to the extent that I'm taking a Pepcid Complete every morning now. It's helping a lot & I know what foods tend to trigger it as well, so I'm limiting those. Except peanut butter. I know it triggers my heartburn, but I just can't give it up right now.

Ella: has been really stubborn lately & we're regressing with the potty training a bit. She's hit or miss when it comes to the baby. Sometimes she's excited about it, but other times she'll flat out tell me she doesn't want her. We may have our hands full come July...

looking forward to: Our trip to Saratoga this weekend. Eric's step-brother lives near my parents & we're going out for my nephew's 1st birthday party on Saturday. Since we were making the trip, my sister decided to come with us too & we're all staying at my parents' house. It'll most likely be my last trip to their Saratoga house before Olivia arrives, which seems crazy because we go every two or three months!

best moments:
  • Barbecuing! Having the grill out this week made dinner so tasty!
  • Lots & lots of walks. They've really relaxed me & I've been sleeping great too. (That could have something to do with the windows being cracked open too - I love fresh air.)
