Training Update - Less Than 3 Weeks To Go

Today I'm guest posting over at Back East Blonde, talking about how I got started running. Be sure to check it out If you want to get in shape for the summer!

On my own blog today, I'm giving you a training update! On Sunday, this post from Nike popped up on my newsfeed!

3 weeks to go? OMG! It's really starting to sink in that this is really going to happen. The hotel suite is booked, travel plans are coordinated, and I'm ready to run 13.1 miles - at least I think I am...

Last week, I ran 24.5 miles & added a day of shopping in as cross training :)

Monday
3.5 Miles - Easy Run
Tuesday
7 Miles – Long Run
Wednesday
4 Miles - Speedwork
Thursday
3 Miles – Hills
Friday
3 Miles – Easy Run
Saturday
Rest Day of Shopping
Sunday
4 Miles

I actually really enjoyed my speed work on Wednesday! I did 3 minutes at 6.5 & 2 minutes at 7.5 & repeated. The short bursts really affected my pace & I finished my 4 miles in just over 34 minutes. My legs were jello at the end, but it felt good. Then I made a stupid mistake in my training & followed that up with a lethal combination... HILLS + JOGGING STROLLER + WIND + CHARLIE! It was horrible. I held my pace at 10:33 - but it was a struggle. I wanted to stop & walk but I figured I'd still have to deal with all of the factors while walking, so I might as well suck it up & run. I felt strong when I was finished. I always feel that way - I need to remind myself of that whenever I want to quit.

Charlie & Ella relaxing after our run on Thursday. At least they both loved it.
I tried to run outside before I left my parents' house on Sunday, but it was 45 degrees with wind gusts of 30 mph. I only lasted a mile & then called my sister to see if she'd watch Ella when I got home so that I could finish up at the gym. That call was totally unnecessary though, because it was 73 & sunny! It's amazing how the weather can be completely different only 3 hours away! I ended up running with Charlie & then looping back to walk with Britt & Ella. It was such an unexpected, gorgeous day!

what I wore for my run in Albany @ 9 a.m vs. what I wore for my run in Rochester at 3 p.m.

And, here's my training plan for this week...
