Miss Ella's Nursery

To say that Ella's nursery is my favorite room in our house would be a massive understatement. The main reason why I love it so much is that I got to design it. It started with white walls & plain hardwood, then I got to pick every single piece of it out! It was a long process, and one that I took very seriously (too seriously if you ask my husband). When you live in a rental, so few decisions are your own. I was over the moon when I got the ok from our landlord to paint! (He only granted the exception because it was for a baby. The rest of my house is beige!) So without further adieu... here is Miss Ella's room!

I had my heart set on the name Ella from the get go. She is named after my Grandma Ellen, who is the most amazing person I've known in my entire life. From the name Ella, we decided to go wtih the theme of elephants! I didn't want to do a traditional pink girl's nursery, so I chose a sunshiney yellow instead. I think Eric & my mom asked me a hundred times if I was sure that I wanted to go with yellow. I do not regret it one single bit. Her room is sunshiney & cheerful, despite the fact that it gets minimal natural light.

Ella's changing table was handmade by my Grandpa Bill. I showed him the picture of this one from Pottery Barn Kids & he recreated it for me. It will become her dresser as she grows, because the changing table piece can be taken off with the turn to two screws.

Her bookcase is from Pottery Barn Kids and was a gift from Eric's dad. It's part of a whole organization system & I plan to keep adding to it as her book toy collection keeps expanding.

Her rug is from Home Depot & is very neutral. I had a really hard time finding a reasonably priced rug, so I was thrilled when I came across this one. It compliments the space & can easily transition to another room in our house if we change things up.

I insisted on having an accent wall in the room & since I was carrying his child, Eric agreed to it. (All of our paint was from Sherwin Williams, because our BFF Drew works there. It was his gift to us.) I love the gray curtains, from Target, against the yellow wall.

Ella's crib is from Target & was only $300. I drooled over more expensive cribs, but honestly it wouldn't have been worth it. I love that we all put it together as a family and that it changes into a toddler bed & eventually a full sized bed. I'm hoping that we have it for years to come.

All of Ella's bedding is from Etsy. I had it all custom done, but it didn't cost me any more than it would have in a store. I loved picking out all of the fabrics & making all of the small decisions. Here are the links to the shops... everyone was amazing & I highly recommed them!

chevron elephant from Lil Kingdom

In continuing with our theme, this bookshelf is from Target too. It wasn't part of the original plan, but we needed something to put Ella's video monitor on. It doesn't take up much space at all & it has proven quite handy for all of the little knick knacks she has accumulated.

If I could change anything about her room, it would have stuff hanging on the walls. Every single wall in our house is made of plaster. You have to have a special drill to hang things up & it's a huge pain in the butt. I can promise you that when we move, I will have things hung everywhere!
